Jesse Johnson is the owner and broker of Johnson Land, where he combines his lifelong passion for the outdoors with his expertise in forestry and land management. A native of Southwest Georgia, Jesse grew up learning to hunt, fish, and appreciate the land from an early age. (How many people can say their mom took them hunting for their first deer?) This passion for the outdoors, along with a strong belief in being a good steward of the land, led him to the University of Georgia’s Warnell School of Forest Resources, where he graduated in 2000 with a degree in Forest Management.
After college, Jesse launched his career as a land-management forester with Rayonier Inc. and later served as the Timber Price Data Editor for Timber Mart-South, a leading source for timber prices in the Southeast. In 2004, he joined Southern Land Exchange (SLE) as a part-time land agent and transitioned to full time in 2007, over his 20 year career with SLE he represented a wide range of clients from large corporations, family partnerships to individual land owners.
In addition, Jesse also owns and operates Southern Timberland Consultants, providing a range of forestry and land management services, including timber appraisals, harvesting, prescribed burns, reforestation, and habitat management.
Jesse is passionate about all things surrounding the land business however he is especially passionate about assisting clients in creating family legacy farms where future generations can make memories, just like he did. Jesse believes that active management is the best way to care for and enjoy the land.
Jesse is also deeply involved in his community. He serves as:
